Where Passion + Purpose Meet

The Balance Project was started by an “elder millennial” husband (Ryan) and wife (Holly) team who are dedicated to raising their three young girls in the most healthy way they can.

They were acutely aware of the challenging culture around smartphones and social media (and their own self-proclaimed “addictions” to their devices), but after reading Jonathan Haidt’s “The Anxious Generation” and diving deep into the data and the community, they realized the urgency around collective action to address the themes and issues in service of their girls’ future.

Together with other local parents (learn more about them here), they formed a core and extended team that were also committed to tackling this societal challenge. The Balance Project teams are currently in the process of collaborating with administrators, teachers and local leaders to lay out a collective action plan for their community that they intend to roll out in September 2025.

In addition to rolling this out in their own community, The Balance Project is also working with other interested communities to apply the approach and methodology to drive change more broadly.

They believe wholeheartedly that this is only the beginning — and cannot wait to see what happens next!
